The Business of Healing

Jessica Muñoz, LMHC | Trauma Therapist

Jessica Muñoz, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in trauma, sexual assault, coercive control, and PTSD symptom management. Her background includes frontline clinical work in emergency departments, inpatient pediatric psychiatry, and neurological intensive care at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian (Columbia University Irving Medical Center), as well as outpatient trauma treatment.

She works with adults who value depth, discretion, and clinical rigor. Her approach is trauma-informed, contained, and individualized. Jessica places autonomy at the center of the therapeutic process and is EMDRIA-certified in EMDR.

Her work examines how institutional responses, environmental cues, and interpersonal dynamics can re-activate trauma symptoms, escalate risk, and increase harm. She brings both clinical expertise and lived experience as a survivor and first-generation immigrant, recognizing the embedded cultural expertise each client brings into the room while acknowledging the imprint of her own cultural identity on assessment and treatment. This allows for full transparency and a bidirectional relationship throughout the assessment process.

Jessica also serves as a Survivor Leader with Sanctuary for Families, the nation’s leading legal services provider for survivors of gender-based violence.
