Phyllis’s Garden

Phyllis’s Garden is a survivor-led nonprofit based in Elk Grove, California, built on the belief that no one should have to navigate the path to healing alone. Founded by Kris and Gay — both survivors of sexual assault who found friendship and strength in each other during the prosecution of the Golden State Killer — the organization was created in memory of Phyllis, a fellow survivor whose grace, determination, and courage in her final days left a permanent mark on everyone she touched.

Today, Phyllis’s Garden carries her legacy forward by providing sexual assault survivors with the support, advocacy, and resources they need to rediscover their voices and reclaim their stories. Their programs include soft interview rooms designed to ease the trauma of reporting, virtual and in-person support groups where survivors find community, and educational outreach that centers survivor perspectives in conversations about justice and healing.

Their private Facebook community, Sexual Assault Survivors! It’s Time to Tell Your Story, has grown to over 1,000 members worldwide — a space where survivors share their experiences with people who genuinely understand, on their own timeline and on their own terms.
